The Requirement
VivaCity provides an Artificial Intelligence (AI) solution that offers detailed and anonymous data insights to optimise the transport network and improve urban infrastructure. It makes intelligent cameras to monitor various modes of transport, with a key mission to help cities overcome their biggest transport challenges.
To achieve Road Safety, Environmental and Active Travel targets, it’s essential that planning and decision-making is informed with high quality data insights. Utilising cutting edge AI-powered computer vision, VivaCity’s sensors capture anonymised multimodal data, designed to provide cities with the most accurate, reliable and scalable insights.
VivaCity works closely with government departments and councils to provide data insights. Public sector clients have either asked for Cyber Essentials certification as part of contractual obligations or have asked for evidence of the certification being in place.
VivaCity’s certification needed to be renewed in order to comply with these contractual obligations and to continue partnerships with other public sector clients. Support was needed to achieve certification as the scope for renewal had changed since the last certification was awarded.

The Solution
As part of the Pass First Time package, DigitalXRAID consultants closely guided VivaCity through the Cyber Essentials self-assessment questionnaire, advising where more information was needed and what should be included, in order to guarantee passing the first phase of the certification.
Once the first phase of the Cyber Essentials certification was completed, DigitalXRAID worked with VivaCity on the requirements for the next phase of the certification, to be awarded Cyber Essentials Plus.
DigitalXRAID tested VivaCity’s assets, including workstations and mobile assets, against the five key security controls mandated by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) under the Cyber Essentials Plus certification scheme.

The Results
By achieving Cyber Essentials Plus certification, VivaCity has formalised security measures and protected the organisation against 80% of online threats, providing protection against phishing, ransomware, malware and network attacks.
VivaCity’s clients now have the assurance that certification is in place, their data is safe and secure, and the government-backed certification is listed on the NCSC website for added assurance and proof of achievement. With increased client confidence, VivaCity can retain and attract new business relationships.
As part of the Cyber Essentials Plus certification process, VivaCity has been able to identify some aspects in its environments that needed to be solved, so has been able to remediate any minor issues to provide a more secure posture for the business.
