What is Defence Cyber Certification?
Defence Cyber Certification is the MoD’s cyber assurance scheme that verifies a supplier’s ability to protect sensitive information, systems and services across the UK defence supply chain.
DCC provides formal evidence that your organisation has strong and documented cyber controls in place and is capable of meeting a clearly defined level of cyber maturity ranging from Level 0 through to Level 3.
It aligns to the Cyber Security Model (CSM) v4 and Defence Standard 05-138, with Cyber Essentials or Cyber Essentials Plus required depending on level.
Do you need Defence Cyber Certification?
You may be required to achieve DCC if you:
- Supply products, software, components, or services to the Ministry of Defence
- Process, store, transmit, or access MoD or defence related data
- Have remote access or system connectivity into defence environments
- Are part of a prime contractor’s delivery or sub-supplier network
- Operate within defence manufacturing, R&D, innovation, or operational technology
If DCC is written into your contract, tender documentation, supplier assurance questionnaire, or security schedule, you must gain the appropriate certification level to proceed.
